California here I come
After a hard semester at work with school and baseball, I finally get to go home for christmas break. After friday finals I will be returing to the sunshine state!!! Although Missouri has christmas in the air with cool temperatures and snow, this California boy needs to get his tan back. I enjoyed thus far updating everyone with baseball and what events are occuring across Lindenwood University baseball program. Next semester I hope to continue updating this Blog with information of the ongoing season.

Spring Break
Lindenwood Baseball has been approved to travel to florida this upcoming season for spring break. The baseball team will be playing in Miami over spring break and get to enjoy the warmth of the Florida sun. This will be the first time Lindenwood University baseball team gets to travel to Florida. Overall it is looking to be a fun season filled with perks and a competitive team.

Christmas Break Begins
Finals are coming to an end and baseball has gone into hibernation. The season will pick up full swing January 8th until than players will workout on their own. Relieved stress from the end of finals will make christmas better for players, enjoying the time with their friends and family until its back to school and business. Players look forward to the end of finals for playing a sport and going to school is like having a full time job. Coach Beherns hopes his players will relax and enjoy the break but in a meeting encouraged his players to make smart decisions and stay out of trouble.

Bathrooms needed
Talk has begun trying to get Lindenwood university to put bathrooms around the baseball field. Lindenwood added a 1.2 million dollar sports complex however bathrooms seemed to fail to meet the budget. The baseball program is trying to get the school to spring and provide bathrooms to go along with the addition of the new scoreboard. "Bathrooms will complete our wonderful field," said coach Beherns. The hope is completion of bathrooms will be ready for the start of the spring season in the first week of Febuary.

New players
Lindenwood has signed three more big puzzle pieces to their already dominate looking team. Head coach reports that three new outfielders have commited to the team for the upcoming spring season. Kyle Miller, Jeff Walters, and Cory James all transfer into Lindenwood with the potential to jump right into the starting lineup. Lindenwood already seems to have an offensive packed lineup and the additions are sure to help add more bang for their buck. Coach Beherns has been recruiting in areas he feels need to be fixed and finally feels he has pieced the puzzle together for a championship.

Lions Infield looks Solid
The Lions infield has key returnees that will be asked to provide a larger role for the team this year. Senior captain Tyler Schlosser appears to be ready to really break out, he hit over .340 in conference games last year. Sophomore captain Ryan Shockley Zumwalt South returns from a foot injury that sidelined him all last season. Tim Hall, Eureka High School, is ready to play everyday at second base. First base will be shared by JC Transfers Brad Merritt (Jefferson CC), and Marty Clements (Mineral Area CC and Zumwalt South High School). Sophomore Jason Brown from Francis Howell Central HS will see time at first base as well as catch. Senior Byron Chatman (CBC High), freshman Brandon Holtmann (Breese Central HS), and junior Joey Hayes will provide infield depth.

New Facility
Lindenwood University Baseball is on the rise. The Lions have a brand new facility to call home. The Lou Brock Baseball/Softball Complex is completed and should give the Lions an additional boost at home. The Lions have played well at home the last two seasons compiling a 39-14 overall home record, including a 41-12 record last season.“The guys are very excited about the new facility. We have done a pretty good job defending our home turf the last two years, the new facility should provide an even better sense of pride playing at home.”

Conditioning to ressume January
Although holiday season is upon us the christmas break will be short for the Lindenwood Baseball team. Players have to report back to baseball January 8th to begin conditioning. Normal students return end of January however the baseball season kicks off in full swing come Febuary 1. This doesn't allow much time once players return. Coach Beherns has requested all players maintain conditioning while away for christmas and assures he will do everything he can to get players into shape come January 8th.

Halford
Coach Halford will trade in his catching gear for coaching gear this season. Halford played the last two seasons for the Lions behind the plate. Coach Halford played for Lincoln Land Community College before joining the Lions. BJ was voted a team captain as a senior and was second team ALL HAAC. An instrumental part of the Lions turnaround the last two seasons, Halford will work with catchers, hitters, and assist with the JV program.

New recruit Signs
Lindenwood Baseball has signed a new recruit for the spring season. Rudy Levario has signed to play for Lindenwood, he comes to Lindenwood from California. There he played for Saddleback Junior College under head coach Jack Hodges. Rudy is a left handed pitcher who also provides speed on the bases. When asked about Rudy head coach Brian Beherns said "He is a great addition and will provide a key piece to what we are trying to accomplish." Rudy is currently a junior and will be on the team for two years. He is majoring in Spanish and looks forward to the upcoming season. His role on the team is yet defined however speculation is he will be a middle relief pitcher and closer.
Snow fall helps
With the sudden impact of snow at Lindenwood University campus was not a total tragedy, some good did come from it. With the increase in temperature the snow on the field has melted provided the grass and infield with some much needed water. Suffering from a drought over the summer the field had taken a toll for the worse. The grass had died out and weeds overwhelmed the newly modeled Lou Brock complex. With the help from the snow fall expectations are the field will return to its beautiful spring condition.

Felder gears up for season
Coach Felder returns for his second year as an assistant coach with the Lions. Felder will work with the Pitchers; in addition he will serve as the Lions first base coach. The St. Charles native was a two-sport athlete at Lewis and Clark Community College, competing on both the baseball and soccer teams, prior to finishing his final two seasons at Lindenwood as a closer and right fielder. AJ was voted a team captain by his teammates his senior year, was also Honorable mention All Conference.
New Coach
Lindenwood baseball has welcomed the arrival of a new assistant coach to its roster. Coach Jake Tenhouse comes to Lindenwood as a catcher's coach and assistant to head coach Brian Beherns. Jake played his college career at Quincy where he played under Coach Beherns. Jake is currently working on his masters while assisting the J.V. and Varsity teams. Jake hopes to help improve the Lindenwood baseball defense and provide knowledge to better players. He enjoys the role of a coach and is eager for the up coming season.

Scoreboard
The lindenwood University baseball field has been approved to recieve a new edition. Come this spring fans will be able to look up and see the score on a new state of the art scoreboard that will be put up in right field. Since the addition of Lou Brock sports complex fans have always complained about the lack of a scoreboard. Well the wait is finally over. Construction has begun with three beams being cemented into place. Delivery and completition of the scoreboard is expected by early January.

Baseball Names MVP
After the completition of Lindenwood's World Series the coachs have voted on a M.V.P of the series. Junior pitcher/outfielder Mike Parsons was elected as the M.V.P for the series. Parsons went 15-20 with 4 triples and 10 rbis for the course of the series. Parsons comes to Lindenwood from Mermac college and looks to be a key fit in the Lindenwood's offense and pitching rotation.
Coach Beherns was extremely excited sigining Parsons because of his versatility and ability to contribute with the bat.

Conditioning Comes to an End!!!
The Lindenwood Lions baseball team as concluded its fall season. After three months of training and games its time to take off a month to enjoy the holidays until January when the season kicks off full steam. The lions coached by Brian Beherns had been forced out of the weightroom due to an outbreak of staph infection, which made their running increase. Once J-term kicks off the team will finally be split into a J.V. and Varsity squads. The Lions hope to add on to the momentum they gained last year with a dominate performance.

Thanksgiving approaches
The leaves are changing and the temperature is dropping, fall is in the air. What makes the approach of Thanksgiving better than the two day break from classes, is it signifies the end of Fall baseball for Lindenwood. All conditioning and practices will conclude the week before the break until J-term starts up January 3. It has been a long tough fall preparing the lions for a very promising season. The Lions hope to build onto the best year they have ever had last year, posting 41 wins. This season looks to be one filled with excitment having what possibly could be the Lions strongest team in years.

Conditioning Intensifies as season draws closer
Due to the absence of lifiting, the Lindenwood Univeristy Baseball team has had to turn to running outdoors. Since the Staph outbreak, the Lions have been banned from team lifting and instead are working entirely outside, working on agilities and stamina. You can see the team often running along the peremiter of the Lindenwood campus, or playing flag football down across from the baseball field. Anything to keep the athletes in shape until the staph infection problem is taken care of.

White Wins it all!!!
As the fall season came to an end, the White team stood victorious as World Series champions. Jumping out to an early 5-0 lead the White team allowed the Gray team to rally back and tie the game at 5-5. Junior John Story pitched for the Gray team and was crusing along until one costly mistake in the seventh turned out to be the game winner. Story allowed a deep homerun by senior Travis McConnell which turned out to be the game winner. The White team rallied behind their bullpen and proved they were the best team in the tournament.

Gray forefits and goes on to advance to Championship

In one of the most strategic coaching moves, the Gray team showed up and forefited to the White team. Knowing the White team was already in the finals, and not wanting to waste any pitching the Gray team forefited and waited to face the Black team in a one game winner advances matchup. To everyone's surprise the Gray team's coaching move ended up paying off defeating the Black team 6-5. It goes to show with a little brains and luck anything is possible. The Gray team will face the White team on friday in a one game Championship. Picked as the Series weakest team the Gray team has come out of nowhere to steal the spotlight.

White Back on track
After a startling loss against the Black team, The White team turned around and pounded the Black team. Leaving little doubt on who is the better team, the White team scored 9 runs allowing only 1. This kind of dominating performance is why spectators and players have White picked as the Series favorite. Behind the bats of Junior Mike Parsons, and Chris Getz the White team sprayed hits all over the field. Collecting 12 hits and 9 runs the White team now sits atop the pack at 2 wins and 1 loss. What makes this win especially key is the amount of runs the White team scored leaves them no chance of not making the Series final on Friday. The big question now is who will be Whites opponent, Black or Gray. These two teams are scheduled to face off tomorrow, however the Gray team has to face White one last time.

Gray Dominates Black
After an outstanding performance against the White team, Black falls in a major upset to the Gray team. Firing out of the gates the Gray team scored 8 runs in the first 5 innings. With the weather being suspect at best it looked like the Gray team would get a rain delayed victory. However, rain drops held off and the Black team came back to tie the score at 8 apiece. Rallying behind a throwing error the Gray team went on to win 9-8.
This leaves the favorite White team at 1-1 the Black team at 1-1 and the Gray team at 1-1. With two more games, it appears this series could end up being anyones game!

White Falls in Upset
Behind the arm of Senior Eric Hullinger the favorite White team was defeated 5-3. Black team started out shaky but rallied behind their Senior pitcher to drive in 5 runs. The White team looked to get to Hullinger early, scoring a quick 3 runs in the first two innings. However true to form Eric pulled it together and dominated the rest of the game. "I owned everone I faced and was never worried about losing" pronounced a cocky Hullinger. Collecting three hits was Senior first baseman Marty Clements. These two teams are scheduled to rematch on Wednesday.

Early Domination
As predicted the White Team came firing out of the gates Monday afternoon. With a huge win in game one over the black team 9-0. The White team behind the arm of Junior Rudy Levario shut out the Black team only allowing 1 hit. With a on-slaught of offense the White team displayed why they are the heavy favorite to take the title. Mike Parsons a Junior Pitcher/Outfielder collected three hits and scored 2 runs, Senior Travis McConnell also had 2 hits on the day with a pair of walks and hit by pitch. The White team looks very strong in pitching and hitting while the Black team is still looking around for answers to their struggling team.

The World Series Teams have been selected and play begins on Monday. Game one will begin monday at 3 p.m on the Lindenwood University campus. Coming off one of their best years since Behrens took over the head job, the baseball team has a conference and regional championship in their sights. "Nothing other than winning regionals will make all the work we put in worth it" said Behrens.
